Virtual Resilience Coaching –
in the Fog of Pandemic

Adversity

Most of us think of adversity as being the loss of someone we truly loved.

Or losing our job.

Or had our heart broken.

Or lived through a disaster.

Or been the victim of a crime.

Or there was an acrimonious divorce.

Or infidelity crushed our confidence.

Or struggling through infertility, experiencing a miscarriage or an abortion.

But Pandemic????

One type of adversity that none of us have experienced is a global pandemic with quarantines, lockdowns, and a total shutdown of our economy.

This is an entirely new type of challenge for which most of us feel unprepared. We have entered a new reality of “shelter in place” orders and “social distancing” rules. We are bombarded with news about how many are testing positive, are sick, or have died.

We fear an unknown virus, job loss, economic insecurity, and concern for loved ones’ health and safety. What’s ahead of us seems murky and uncharted, which has many people worried and anxious.

It almost seems too much to bear!

Resilience

The good news is that over the last 25 years there has been a boatload of research on the science of Resilience and why some people seem able to bounce back in the face of misfortune. That knowledge is now available for anyone who is interested in strengthening their mental fitness to deal with these tough times.

Would you like help in strengthening your mental fitness as you sit at home contemplating “what now”?

My career of over 30 years as a therapist has focused on helping those who have experienced trauma and loss find ways to build their resilience so that they can rebuild their lives after suffering devastating events.

A frequent saying during these times of mandatory “shelter in place” orders is “if you cannot go outside, go inside.” I will show you how to do that through Resilience Coaching, where you will get to practice mindfulness methods, defusion techniques, and other new ways of seeing and being in the world with hope and optimism.

Resilience coaching provides you with an opportunity to make use of the distilled science of Resilience combined with my experience helping people recover their lives after suffering terrible events.

It’s coaching – not therapy. It’s online – not in person.

It’s educational. It’s engaging and potentially life-transforming.

What is Resilience coaching?

Our coaching sessions will focus on not only the challenges you are finding in dealing with life and love in the age of a global pandemic, but also give you strategies and tools to improve your well-being right now while preparing you for what’s ahead.

The video coaching sessions are done through Zoom, a secure application that does not require any software, can be from a smartphone or computer with a camera, and are done in the comfort of your home.

Audio-only sessions are offered for those who are camera shy.

Some of the issues covered include how to:

  • Tamp down fear / ramp up resilience
  • Control the controllable and let go of the rest
  • Implement mindfulness of the moment
  • Grow an attitude of gratitude
  • Socially connect while we physically distance
  • Adapt to the present / reconfigure the future with the lessons of the past
